solo journey sharm el sheik

Sharm el-Sheikh was an unexpected surprise. I set off alone, a bit nervous but excited to explore this popular destination. Traveling solo can feel challenging, but Sharm turned out to be the perfect place for someone like me who loves adventure without depending on anyone else.

Arrival and First Impressions of Sharm el-Sheikh

As soon as I arrived in Sharm el-Sheikh, the warm weather embraced me like a blanket. The airport is small but well-organized, and I quickly found a taxi to take me to my hotel. I recommend booking your transfer in advance to avoid any surprises, especially when traveling solo.

The city offers plenty of accommodation options, but I chose a beachfront resort. Traveling solo gave me the freedom to explore at my own pace, and the view of the Red Sea was one of the first things that truly took my breath away.

What to Do in Sharm el-Sheikh Alone

If you love the sea, Sharm el-Sheikh is a diver’s paradise. You don’t need to be an expert—there are beginner courses everywhere. I opted for snorkeling instead. The Red Sea is known for its colorful corals and diverse tropical fish, and being alone in that natural aquarium was an incredible experience.

For those who prefer land adventures, I recommend a trip to the Sinai Desert. There are many tour options, from camel rides to quad biking, and I decided to join a small group to explore the desert at sunset. The silence and vastness of the landscape were some of the most memorable moments of my trip.

Safety in Sharm el-Sheikh for Solo Travelers

One of my initial concerns was safety, but Sharm el-Sheikh turned out to be very safe for solo travelers. Most people I encountered were friendly and helpful. I walked comfortably at night along Naama Bay, one of the liveliest areas, and never felt unsafe.

Of course, it’s always wise to use common sense. Avoid flashing valuables and be cautious when straying from tourist areas, but overall, I found Sharm el-Sheikh to be an excellent destination for solo travelers.

Useful Tips for Solo Travelers in Sharm el-Sheikh

Here are a few tips that helped me during my stay:

  • Transport: Use taxis or book guided tours for easy movement around the city.
  • Accommodation: Choose a hotel near the beach or city center so you can walk around without relying on transportation.
  • Activities: Book excursions through trusted agencies and always ask for advice at your hotel.
  • Safety: Avoid isolated areas at night and keep your documents secure.

My trip to Sharm el-Sheikh was an unforgettable experience. Traveling solo doesn’t mean being alone. I met amazing people, had moments of reflection, and enjoyed a unique sense of freedom.
